My father has quite a bit of experience with bikes from the 70's and 80's, so picking his brain wouldn't be a problem, but not sure if it would help. The question is this: Is a clutch change possible for someone who is slightly above average in mechanical ability? I've done most of the different minor maintenance jobs on the bike and I've seen a clutch changed on a 998, but I'm just not sure what the clutch change would entail on the 750, seeing as how it's a wet clutch. Also, the nearest dealer is 2+ hours away, so there's a little incentive for me to do it myself. I bought a Barnette clutch and spring kit from Parts Unlimited, but realized a dealer might not put them on since they weren't purchased through him. I have an opinion question about changing the clutch on my '99 750SS.Įarlier last year, I noticed the clutch slipping a little and figured since it had 35k on the odometer, it would be time to change.
